FOI was created to help overcome food inequality. In practice, FOI is a bridge between those with excess food and those who need food support. As is laid out in the 1945 constitution an independent country is one which can feed its own people and is able to manage its people’s aspirations fairly in a manner that benefits all. FOI also supports the country in achieving food sovereignty by targeting number two of the SDG’s (Sustainable Development Goals) which aims to end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable farming practices.. Also, it supports SDG 12, concerning responsible food production and consumption.
